Why Unity?

What unifies us in Christ?
Where there is unity there is strength

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (below) is a passage that Christians sometimes use as an example for marriage; however, we can apply it to unity as well.  King Solomon received a gift of wisdom that we can learn from.  As we embark on an adventure with God toward unity, remember that there is strength in our weaknesses.  This strength comes from God and from His designed opportunity for community.  'Community' is an interesting word.  I notice especially that the word 'unity' is the main emphasis.

Community:  UNCOUNTABLE NOUN

Community is friendship between different people or groups, and a sense of having something in common.

Unity:  UNCOUNTABLE NOUN

When there is unity, people are in agreement and act together for a particular purpose.

I believe that you were guided to this website because we have a common purpose in desiring unity among Christians.  Does that sound impossible?  Probably, but remember that with God, nothing is impossible.  He can do infinitely more than anything we can possibly dream up!  If this is true (and it is!), then we need to start dreaming and let God take the lead!

How do we start?  Good question...  Prayer is definitely the priority.  Do you agree?  Jesus is our example - He gave us John 17 as a model.  He was praying for us - "those who will believe in Me through their word"!  We in turn can pray in a similar way for all believers.  We need to fulfill His desire that we will be one just as He and the Father are one.  Do we disagree on topics of theology?  Yes.  Should that keep us from living in unity that the world may know that the Father sent Jesus and loves us even as He loves Jesus!  No!  What an amazing gift of love to us!  And Jesus' prayer for us was for unity...

If prayer is our first priority, what is the second one?  I think it is community.  A time we can come together, worship and focus on prayers for unity!  A time we can begin showing the world around us that unity IS possible.  A time we can start growing together until we can't be broken!

As we see in the world events around us, people are desperate for unity.  Christianity is being challenged on every front.  WE can make a bold stand now!  Maybe you are already taking a stand.  Come meet with people who have the same purpose and strengthen your brothers and sisters.  Maybe you want to take a stand, but don't know where to start.  Maybe you're a new believer and want to be in community with other believers.  Whatever your calling, let's do this together!  Come join with us as we grow and focus on unity and community.

Jesus is waiting!

Jesus prayed for unity in John 17

20 “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; 21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: 23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.
