Why create a website about Unity? Sometime around 2020, I don't remember exactly, God impressed on my heart to create a website and to use "Unity for Christ" as the title. Do you ever say 'no' to God? I did - I told Him I didn't know how to create a website. Why didn't I step out in faith to even make an attempt to do what He had purposed for me? Maybe fear of failure and lack of confidence. I'm sure other things played into my thoughts, too. He is faithful and patiently waited for me, keeping the purpose on my heart until fall, 2023. At that time, He started giving me more information about it. He also started highlighting different people to talk to, books to read and a true desire in my heart to accomplish what He is asking me to do. He has dealt with any issue of fear over the last few years. So, here is my effort to create the website with His guidance. I believe it will evolve over time and as situations change in the world. My prayer is truly for Christians to experience unity and show the world that Jesus is real and wants to be their Lord and savior.
This reminds me of another time I said 'no' to God. I was in a worship service and a lady in front of me was visibly distraught. He whispered to me to go and comfort her. That was WAY outside my comfort zone at that time in my "new" journey with Him, so I said "No". A few seconds later another person went and did what He had whispered for me to do. I was just learning about hearing His voice and wasn't sure how to take this. As I watched, He gently whispered to me "It's OK. We'll practice again. later"
I'm truly grateful for HIs patience! Indeed, we have practiced many times since then! This website is a result of His whisper and my attempt to listen.
What's the story of the giraffe pictures? A few years ago as I was attending a ladies' conference, the speaker told of how she was inquiring of the Lord if He could give her a sign that He was always with her and loved her. He answered her with butterflies. One time she was driving down the highway in an enclosed car, a butterfly appeared! She went on to describe so many ways that God had used butterflies as a source of encouragement to her.
As I went home from the event, I asked the Lord if He could provide me with such a sign, just as He did for her - I really needed to know He was there with me - it was one of those times in life that it seemed a bit stressful to say the least. I think I was probably also 'testing' what I was learning about hearing His voice. He answered with the quiet whisper that He would use a giraffe! REALLY, I thought!? I even told him that I lived in west Texas - definitely not a place known for giraffes. He answered back and said, "I know where you live." As the day progressed, my husband and I went to a local grocery store - they sell food, right? As we walked in the front door, what do I see? A HUGE bin of stuffed giraffes! I absolutely took notice of this odd occurrence. We went to Walmart after this and as I came in to the store there were giraffes everywhere! Giraffe games, blankets, pillows, stuffed giraffes - I don't even remember how many different giraffes there were. I just stood there and started laughing. My husband asked me what was going on. I told him the story of what had happened that morning. He also started noticing all the giraffes everywhere we went. Let me tell you that God has been faithful to His word to this day! Giraffes show up at the most unexpected times! I was helping a family member in a really hard situation and as I was driving down a road close to the house, I noticed a tree. What's in the top of the tree? A giraffe sculptured with the tree limbs and leaves! I kid you not! He knew I would be driving in that specific spot at that specific time and had it there for me to see. A couple of days later there was a thunder storm and it was no longer visible. I'm glad that I stopped and took a picture! I will keep it to remind me of His goodness and faithfulness. Honestly, I will probably print it and frame it! All of the ways He uses giraffes in my life are precious to me. I know He is with me and loves me so very much!
